In this beginner guitar lesson, you will learn how to play the A minor chord. Like other open chords, the Am is a widely used chord in all styles of music, from classical to modern rock and pop so it is extremely useful to know when playing the guitar.
As always - try to pick the strings one by one to make sure there is not buzz of muted strings and practice the shape of the chord until you feel comfortable with it. As you may already know, the hardest part is changing between chords so once you feel comfortable playing the Am chord it is highly recommended to try and play some changes.
Here are some examples for you to try out:
- Am to C
- Am to F
- Am to G
